What Is HIPAA?

HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, a U.S. federal law enacted in 1996. It was created to establish national standards for protecting sensitive health information and to ensure that personal health data is handled with care, confidentiality, and security.

HIPAA was designed to safeguard individuals’ medical information as it is shared between healthcare providers, organizations, and digital platforms, helping prevent misuse, unauthorized access, and data breaches.

At its core, HIPAA exists to protect trust, privacy, and dignity in healthcare. This is why becoming HIPAA compliant was so important to us.

To achieve HIPAA compliance, all members of our team completed the required HIPAA training. We also transitioned to HIPAA-compliant software and platforms to store, communicate, and manage information. All of our internal systems and practices are designed to protect Protected Health Information (PHI).
